John W. Gilbert Associates invites you to browse its web site. We are a Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering Firm founded in 1964. Our Firm has completed over 600 designs of which approximately 400 vessels have been constructed.

John W. Gilbert Associates has been engaged in the design of a wide variety of commercial vessels such as river tow boats, tug boats, excursion vessels, passenger cruise vessels, passenger vehicle ferries, research vessels, integrated tug barges and fishing vessels. John W. Gilbert Associates, Inc. is renowned for its fishing vessel designs that have been built in the United States, Canada, France, Scotland, and Africa.

John W. Gilbert Associates has been at the forefront of research in stability, seakeeping and sea kindliness, hull resistance and speed/power using model tests as well as computer simulation. Our library of reference material and technical publications is extensive, keeping us well abreast of the ongoing changes in both industrial and governmental sectors.

John W. Gilbert Associates is well equipped with the most current analytical tools and computer programs. Many of these programs were developed in-house. Our stability conditions booklets have garnered acclaim from mariners on their straight-forward user friendly format, providing timely and accurate answers to the vessels attitude depending on her loading.

Our company’s vigorous focus on detail, arrangement, clash resolution, structural design, and cost of fabrication is well illustrated by the number of sister vessels built to our designs. From 2000 to 2007, four separate designs have had sister vessels built for a total of eleven vessels. Two sister vessels are 300 Ft. passenger vehicle ferries which were built in 2000 and 2003 respectively. In the last 30 years, John W. Gilbert Associates has had 22 ferry boats or passenger vehicle ferries built to its designs
